Tasting 24 samples totally blind in December 2020, you can find more here. All notes except the very last few sentences are written before reveal. Disclaimer: These are all very small drams, around 1.5 cl each, so doing a proper tasting is challenging. I'll do my best!
1.1 (Burnished)
Nose
Sherry heavy at first whiff. Bordering on rubbery. Light on the alcohol side.
Palate
Ah, nice. The rubber seems to have faded. It's a shame when whiskies cross that line but I think we're safe here. Fruity, sherried. Marmalade and wood. Think but tingling mouthfeel.
Finish
Warm with a considerable kick. Red wine, cinnamon, vanilla, honey.
It got better along the way! I like the finish most, very cozy and enjoyable.
Guess: Sherry in it for sure. 50% ABV, could be 12-18 years old. Had an Arran 10 the other day, wouldn't be surprised if this was the 18 although I've never tried it.
Reveal: Fun! I didn't care much for the NAS version of Timourous Beastie the other day, but this was very nice. Fooled me on the age, it seems!
Check out my other advent tastings!
