Tasting 24 samples totally blind in December 2020, you can find more here. All notes except the very last few sentences are written before reveal. Disclaimer: These are all very small drams, around 1.5-2 cl each, so doing a proper tasting is challenging. I'll do my best!
1.9 (Brown sherry)
Nose
Coffee, dark chocolate, wood spice, grass/hay and a light hint of smoke.
Palate
Intense! Tannic, winey, dark fruits, pineapple.
Finish
Powerful spiciness. Woody and dry, a little char and smoke.
Obviously a sherry bomb, I'd say either lightly peated or heavily charred. Big, bold, matches its color well. I'd put this at a younger Glendronach or Glenallachie sherry-heavy single cask if it weren't for the hints of smoke, although they're small hints.
Reveal: A private bottling, not surprising! A very young thing, but these Box/High Coast private bottlings tend to mature quickly. Sometimes too quickly, of course, but this was certainly a nice one.
