I've been working through this bottle for the last year or so, and thought it'd be a good idea to review it before it's gone. This bottle is from batch 3.
0.8 (Deep gold)
Nose
A citric but soft nose. Squarely in the "pure ex-bourbon" department - vanilla, fresh fruits, honey, a little floral.
Palate
Velvety mouthfeel. Floral, malty, a little leather.
Finish
Pepper, malt, honey. Plenty of sweetness.
A schoolbook example of balance and integration. It's the opposite of sprawling but still manages some interesting complexity and a nice depth. Something for the pure ex-bourbon lovers. It has a bit more oomph than something like Glenlivet 18. The only thing that's really against it is that the 12 year old sibling isn't far behind, and is a fair bit cheaper. The 12 clearly wins on value.
