I've had this bottle a while and it's one I'll come back to after I've had time to forget how strong it is. Goes really well in a Manhattan and loves a drop of water but just had straight up rested in an Tuath glass ( Irish glencairn)
1.4 (Tawny)
Nose
Straight off the bat I'm hit with stewing red fruits and Christmas cake. There's an ethenol burn on the nose aswell
Palate
This is a BIG whiskey. I get the Christmas cake straight away with raisin and cranberry. It's close to being a Sherry bomb for me but just falls a bit short. A little bit thin on the mouthfeel, which is a bit unexpected
Finish
Quite a dry finish, I get lingering cranberry with an ethenol kick
This is one that really needs that drop of water to mellow it out a bit but there's plenty there to like, especially for its price point. Definitely not for beginners this one. The finish let's it down from its promising nose.
