Bought myself a sample because I like Bunnahabhain. I'm not very familiar with Claxton's, but I know they use large square bottles!
0.2 (Pale staw)
Nose
Lots of dark fruits. Second sniff reveals a layer of sweetness. Honey. Also a bit of citrus. No peat.
Palate
Surprisingly light mouthfeel. I did expect a bit more oilyness given the nose and the fact that it’s a Bunnahabhain. It hides its strength very well.
Finish
Wood spice and a round, winey kind of taste. Strawberry jam and perhaps a tad licorice. Very sweet, brown sugar finish. Medium length.
Nose reminds me of an Old Pulteney, with that sweet, citrus and honey profile. The finish reveals a completely different set of tastes. Quite a sharp turn! It makes it an interesting dram but not really up my alley. Perhaps a bit too sprawling, but a sure hit if you like sweet dark fruits.
