Kininvie is located next door to Balvenie, and shares some facilities with the more famous sister distillery. Most of Kininvie's output goes to blends, but there are a couple of single malt expressions out there.
1.1 (Burnished)
Nose
Lots of fresh fruit. Subtle oak spices. Light, thin.
Palate
Peppery, but round and creamy at the same time. Less fruity than the nose, but there are some oranges and pears to be found.
Finish
Warm and spicy, predominantly oaky. Quite long, and ends with a pleasant, creamy note.
Nothing super special, but a well-rounded and tasy whisky. Price? Way too high. I'll try the 17-year-old soon if I can find the sample around here, and if I could make a wishlist for it I'd tone down the oak, keep the cream and add some more fruit.
