Tasting 24 samples totally blind in December 2020, you can find more here. All notes except the very last few sentences are written before reveal. Disclaimer: These are all very small drams, around 1.5 cl each, so doing a proper tasting is challenging. I'll do my best!
0.6 (Old gold)
Nose
Fresh fruits, slight saltiness, herbal. Bit of doughiness, malty.
Palate
Soft mouthfeel (round - reminds me of Oban 14). Fruit, oranges, little bit of peach, hints of smoke.
Finish
Salt, spice, more smoky hints. Some sour-ish off-note (to me) I can't define.
A bit too harsh/spicy and simultaneously thin without the depth or complexity to back it up. Missing some of the fruits. A bit meh.
Guess: Mostly ex-bourbon. Around 43%.
Reveal: Highland Park 12! I think I've had it before and didn't find it very memorable. Not a favorite.
Check out my other advent tastings!
