Tasting 24 samples totally blind in December 2020, you can find more here. All notes except the very last few sentences are written before reveal. Disclaimer: These are all very small drams, around 1.5 cl each, so doing a proper tasting is challenging. I'll do my best!
1.5 (Polished mahogany)
Nose
Slight sharpness in an otherwise fruity nose. More tropical and dried fruit than the fresh variety. Not very intense.
Palate
Considerably more power here. Bit of peat? Tannic, driet fruit, marmalade.
Sprawling and surprising. Great nose, decent palate and bordering on straight up bad finish. Definitely weird stuff going on there. Didn't bother finishing my already minuscule dram.
Guess: Absolutely no idea. Some weird finish - probably wine or sherry. Slightly peated, not very high ABV.
Reval: Jura! Ah, Jura. I've been there, I've tried, I haven't succeeded in finding something I like. I'm glad this was done blind though, as opposed to jumping on the "Jura bad" bandwagon. This was just above decent, in my book.
Check out my other advent tastings!
