Tasting 24 samples totally blind in December 2020, you can find more here. All notes except the very last few sentences are written before reveal. Disclaimer: These are all very small drams, around 1.5 cl each, so doing a proper tasting is challenging. I'll do my best!
0.9 (Amontillado sherry)
Nose
Tons of vanilla. The usual companion suspects - pears, toffee.
Palate
In line of the nose. Gentle. Hints of almond and some floral notes.
Finish
More of the same, with some added oak spice.
A real, soft, vanilla bomb. Clean, extremely easy to drink. A bit watery perhaps, but has it place. Well done and tasty, not much more.
Guess: 100% ex-bourbon, less than ten years old, 40-43%. We're in Sweden, so I would not be surprised if this is High Coast Älv.
Reveal: The Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey! Totally new to me. Apparently five years old and "virgin oak finished" - not known for how long. Not too bad, not too expensive. A nice acquaintance.
Check out my other advent tastings!
