Tasting 24 samples totally blind in December 2020, you can find more here. All notes except the very last few sentences are written before reveal. Disclaimer: These are all very small drams, around 1.5 cl each, so doing a proper tasting is challenging. I'll do my best!
0.9 (Amontillado sherry)
Nose
Sharp, alcoholic, malty, menthol, pineapple
Palate
Soft and malty, thin mouthfeel
Finish
Peach, vanilla ice cream. Short finish.
I've recently gained an affection for a certain "doughiness" when tasking whiskies, and this here has a bit of that. Not so much a dough-like mouthfeel, though. Thin, short finish.
Guess: Refill ex-bourbon, 40-43%, not more than 10 years old.
Reveal: Huh. Definitely sherry, but man that's disappointing for a Macallan. Not too surprised.
Check out my other advent tastings!
